For this typography project, my goal was to make a cookbook that represents aspects of traditional Mexican culture while also pushing my own creative boundaries. I wanted to pay tribute to the Mexican heritage and the family history associated with the recipes provided, so I chose to include imagery of papel picado (paper banners), and Mexican tiles. The colour palette is inspired by the vibrant dresses of Mexican folklórico dancers and the colourful ingredients in tacos themselves.
I decided to take the project a step further and source more recipes to fill the pages (courtesy of The Modern Proper). I took inspiration from the vibrant colours, messy ingredients, and bold flavours of Mexican street tacos.
I had a lot of fun experimenting with cropping, enlarged typography, breaking the grid, and pushing the boundaries of typography to make this cookbook come to life.
I also learned how to use Adobe Express to create a video mockup of the cookbook.

I used Adobe InDesign to create my layouts, and Adobe Stock to source a few of the images and graphic elements. Generative AI in Adobe Photoshop was used to generate text for the intro pages (4-5), and to edit photography to match the recipe descriptions provided.
